More than 1 billion people worldwide do not have access to clean, safe drinking water. In a new initiative to tackle this problem, WHOLE WORLD Water (WWW) – a new Friend of Glass – is aiming to raise a billion dollars a year to combat the problem.
The WWW campaign unites businesses in the hospitality and tourism industry. Members of the initiative will be able to filter and bottle their own water which they sell on to their customers. From the sale of each bottle of WWW water, 10% will go towards the fund to be invested in approved drinking water projects around the world.
A key goal of WWW is to reduce the amount of unsustainable packaging material used in hotels and restaurants. Instead, two types of reusable glass bottle are available – one with a screw-cap designed for take-away sales, and another with a flip-top for use in restaurants.
WWW believes that the hospitality and tourism industry has the power to solve the problem of providing clean drinking water. With the help of glass, they are sure to succeed!
